The top six companies excelling in
the Sustainability Report category were honored at the 17th Listed
Companies Voting Awards (VLCA) held on November 16, 2024.
Overview of This Year’s Sustainability Reports
This year’s reports showcased significant progress in both quantity and quality. In addition to the sustained performance of familiar names, many newcomers were praised for their well-structured reports despite it being their first attempt.
The number of companies producing standalone sustainability reports hit a record high, increasing from 21 to 33, continuing the upward trend in recent years. This year marked the highest number of standalone sustainability reports and the largest pool of reports advancing to the final round in 12 years.
Among these, 10 reports (nearly 30%) were from financial services companies, including 6 from banks, 2 from insurance firms, and 2 from financial and securities firms.
The judging panel selected six companies with the best sustainability reports to receive awards, including:
- 1st Prize:
Vinamilk (VNM) - 2nd
Prize: Century Synthetic Fiber (STK) - Three
Commendation Prizes for:- Completeness: Imexpharm (IMP)
- Credibility: Ca Mau Fertilizer (DCM)
- Presentation: Bao Viet Holdings (BVH)
- Best Greenhouse Gas Emissions Management Report:

The panel highlighted innovations and positive features of the winning reports, notably the improved adoption and expansion of international standards and sustainability strategies.

In 2023, Vinamilk achieved major milestones in environmental impact reduction, including its commitment to Net Zero by 2050. As the first Vietnamese dairy company to join the Global Net Zero Initiative, Vinamilk launched the “Vinamilk Pathways to Dairy Net Zero 2050” program. Goals include a 15% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2027 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
Key achievements in 2023:
- Neutralized 17,560 tons of CO2, equivalent to planting 1.7 million trees.
- Facilities aligned with ISO 14064 and achieved PAS 2060:2014 Carbon Neutrality Certification.
- Saved 877,125 kWh of green energy, planted 1.1 million trees, and transitioned to biodegradable plastic bags.
These efforts solidify Vinamilk’s leading position domestically and bolster its international reputation while contributing to national sustainability goals.

In 2023, STK reinforced its commitment to sustainability through a dedicated and well-structured report adhering to GRI standards, linking sustainability priorities with annual reports. Highlights include:
- A clear strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 29.4% (2023–2027) for specific brands based on SBTi targets.
- Success stories from Trang Bang Factory, covering Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions audited by independent consultants.
These efforts earned STK the Second Prize for Best Sustainability Report in 2024.

Imexpharm (IMP): Significant Progress

- A top-5 ranking in sustainability reporting, with a 20-point increase in Completeness criteria.
- Highlights included stakeholder engagement, strategy alignment, and key performance indicators.
- Detailed greenhouse gas emissions measurements and year-on-year comparisons.
Ca Mau Fertilizer (DCM): Creating More Sustainable Value
- Award:
Best Credibility in Sustainability Reporting - Achievements:
- A detailed first-time standalone sustainability report.
- Established an ESG Committee under the Board of Directors for governance and risk management.
- Included greenhouse gas reduction targets (2023–2030) and biodiversity measures.

Bao Viet Holdings (BVH): Living Sustainably
- Award:
Best Presentation in Sustainability Reporting - Achievements:
- A comprehensive 263-page report, well-structured with interactive PDF format, creative visuals, and detailed analyses.
- Progress in ESG scores (S&P Global ESG), surpassing industry averages in two categories.

OCB: Transitioning Toward a Green Bank

In its first standalone report, OCB demonstrated potential through a well-structured report referencing GRI standards and focusing on:
- Commitment to becoming Vietnam’s leading green bank.
- Greenhouse gas emissions management with year-on-year comparisons.
- A Sustainability Development Committee under the Board of Directors.
OCB’s efforts earned recognition for its most improved sustainability reporting.
